The second of our core company values is Wealth, "Investing for Lifestyle, Wealth & Legacy". Now most people would jump to the conclusion that we are purely focused on Money. Just your typical greedy property investors/developers, who would screw over anyone to make a quick buck. Well i'm here to tell you thats not the truth - far from it in fact. Money is however important, we are in business after all. If we cant make a profit then we wont last very long, cant feed our family and if we don't generate a profit for our investors then we would have an even bigger problem on our hands.
We chose 'Wealth' because it represents an abundance mindset.
You can have a wealth of Money or be 'financially wealthy', but you can also have a wealth of knowledge, time, relationships, health etc. A plentiful supply of a particular desirable thing.
One of my favourite quotes is "you don't know what you don't know", when i realised that, uncrossed my arms, removed that sceptical look off my face and got out of my own way opportunities opened up from simply becoming that sponge and asking those burning questions. Learning and Networking to improve my own business and property knowledge. Constant and never-ending improvement in our quest to learn and be better at what we do is vitally important to us at Kieba Property.
We've already discussed Lifestyle in an earlier post, but having an abundance of 'time' to spend how we choose, with family, leisure, travel or on our work is also very important. All work and no play makes Kieran & Dawn bloody miserable.
Relationships, well what can i say. We wouldn't be where we are today without meeting some influential people along the way - those who spark an idea, show belief in us or help and support us on our journey through life. We network avidly, building relationships with people, learning where we can and sharing value/giving back where we can. You never know when that next person you meet may end up having a positive influence on our future, a new idea, a professional working relationship and JV or property investment parter. Health. Well this is an area of life we can all be too guilty of ignoring at times or certainly not giving enough focus. We only get one shot at this thing called life, so we may as well make sure we can physically enjoy it. No point being the richest person in the cemetery or working yourself into an early grave. So make sure you are active, exercise, get outdoors and eat reasonably well. As we get older i've noticed we need to work a bit harder at being healthy and active so its high on our priority list at the moment, fortunately property allows us allocate the time to exercise and work out, the income and time to pursue active holidays snowboarding and windsurfing. We try and eat pretty well but we are human and live across the road from a decent country pub so its harder than it could be at times - the odd beer is good for you tho i'm sure - a wise person once told me that. So yes wealth means a lot more than just money to us. That abundance mindset is so important - that we shouldn't have to sacrifice one for the other, or feel there isn't enough to around. We are constantly networking, learning, building relationships with people and looking after ourselves along the way. But! Is it such a bad thing to have monetary wealth as an important value, i don't think it is.
We need to make sure that we put our capital and investors capital to good work. We need to make sure we understand the figures properly and are happy to make a profit so we don't get taken advantage of. If we don't value money then why would anyone, banks or individuals consider investing is us? They wouldn't. So we need to be actively seeking to make money, and why not. Zig Ziglar famously said "Moneys not the most important thing but it ranks up there with oxygen"
Money gives you choices, it allows you the freedom to travel, experience things and share those experiences with the ones you love. Who doesn't like the nicer things in life, a nicer bed to sleep in, nicer front door to close at night, a nicer car to sit in traffic in... and then once you've taken care of yourself it allows you to give back, to help others less fortunate - which lets face it - is a lot easier to do if your not worried about how the bills get paid each month.
Monetary Wealth Yes, but make sure you are abundant in every aspect of life and everything you approach.
